I needta start calling the Friday 5 O’Cocktail the “Any Day I Damn Well Please O’Cocktail”. Sheesh!
If I’ve told you before, I’ve told you a million times – my favorite drink is the Amaretto Sour. BUT! There is a beautiful, close runner up and it is none other than the White Russian. I definitely drank my fair share of these babies back in college. They are just sooooo rich and creamy, and sinfully delicious. And there’s that level of “comfort food” that you get with a dairy drink. Think Bailey’s at Christmas.
You probably wouldn’t know it by the swagger on my blog, but I actually don’t drink very much. So I’ve never gotten like drunk-drunk off these, but the word of warning on the streets is that if you have too many, the mix of dairy and alcohol doesn’t do a tummy good…so you may want to use this as just the casual before or after dinner drink – and not the I-party-like-I’m-still-in-college drink.
And who could do a post about White Russians without mentioning The Dude from The Big Lebowski? That is all.
Check out the video for the super easy concoction…
White Russian Recipe
INGREDIENTS
1 part vodka
1 part coffee-flavored liqueur (like Kahlua)
1 part half & half (or milk)
DIRECTIONS
In a lowball or old fashioned glass with 2-3 ice cubes, combine all ingredients and stir.
Try almond milk (original, not flavored) instead of half & half. I call it the Nutty Russian!
Wow Vicki, awesome tip! And love the name. :D
The only time I’ve had white Russians was when I forced a scary-movie-averse friend into watching a scary/gruesome movie after convincing her it was a feel good family movie. ;)
So to lighten the blow I packed some of those sugary pre-mixed white Russians and treated her to a thimble after every slasher scene.
Because I’m a good friend, that’s why.
Bob
I use Baileys in stead of half-half. Kiss A. Try it.
Bailey’s instead of half and half = more liquor…Bob = Genius. :D Thanks for the tip, hope to see you soon!
