The Watering Mouth’s
Restaurant Review Philosophy
The restaurant review section of The Watering Mouth website has been designed to support the restaurant community and create a positive impact. After one of my favorite restaurants in the area closed, partly because of bad press that they couldn’t overcome, I decided to take matters into my own hands and lend my support to the industry.
Therefore, we pledge to publish completely honest, unbiased reviews — but only the overall positive ones! You won’t see a negative review on here, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t come across one; we just won’t report on it.
This way — you know when you see a review on this site that it’s a restaurant we’d go back to or even recommend to our friends. Conversely, the “bad apples” remain confidential because we don’t think it’s fair to publicly skewer them, even though that does sound a bit tasty in a weird way.
So, here is our process:
Our reviews are unbiased because of the anonymous reviewer’s job, which is to experience the restaurant as a normal patron would. They go in at regular times, eat a variety of foods on the menu and never reveal that they are reviewing. Then they report on it using our in-depth scoring scale, and we add it to the food experience that we’ve had to create one full, unbiased review.
We also offer restaurants the opportunity to improve upon their score, and be reviewed again, in order to bring the patron the best possible dining experience. We are compensated by the restaurants for our efforts, because this process is a great deal of work and becomes a great way to advertise for a restaurant that has received an overall positive score.
As you can see, we have taken great care to design a process that gives you the best of both worlds: a full, in-depth and clear picture of the food offerings, alongside a completely unbiased account of a normal patron’s restaurant experience.
So here’s what you can look forward to on this site:
— Completely unbiased, anonymous reviews.
— Only overall positive reviews; we simply refrain from posting the negative ones.
— An insider’s look at the restaurant to give you the whole picture, and not just some one-off visit account.
Lastly, it is important to note that we will honestly report all details that we have encountered, even if there are a few negative points that occurred. We know that every restaurant has it’s pluses and minuses, and even good days and bad days. So we pledge to give you the full account so you can decide for yourself if you’d like to go based on what we experienced.
