Oftentimes, we think we need to be motivated or excited in order to create momentum and weight-loss..and that we’ll need to do that for the rest of our lives for success.

But I don’t think this is useful.

I think excitement can be helpful in some ways, but to expect it to be something we can generate for a lifetime…no, that’s not what I think moves the needle and keeps it there forever.

To me, I think it’s helpful to look at what it would be like if you’ve already been doing this for say, 5 years.

If you’ve been successful, if you’re at your goal weight, and you just know how to maintain it…put yourself there.

What do you think you need to feel about your healthy eating/weight-loss journey in order to sustain it?

You’d probably feel something like calm and peace.

And you’d have thoughts around that like, “This is just what I do,” or “This is easy.” Better yet, you probably won’t really even be thinking about it much.

You’ll just be doing the things that keep you there.

Imagine what you will have to be thinking in order to feel calm and peaceful around your food.

Because that is the mindset you’ll be in when you’ve been there longterm and there is no mystery anymore.

I promise you there’s nothing wrong with you if you’re not doing it yet — it’s just all new.

For me, it has a lot to do with rejecting the drama and chatter in my head around food and just taking the right actions.

That leads to more peace over time…as we begin to trust ourselves that we can do this…if we just keep going.
