Tropical Green Smoothie Recipe

I have to admit, I’m not much of a tropical smoothie flavor person. Add that to the fact that I’m allergic to mangoes (did you know they’re part of the poison ivy family?!), and I tend to shy away whenever possible…in favor of a more chocolate-y type smoothie… :D

But I do venture out and have this one from time to time because it’s just sooooo dang good. It’s a great way to mix it all up for my tastebuds so that I can have a break from the chocolate goodness. And if you’re not much of a chocolate person, this one is a GREAT choice.

A Word About the Greens

It’s important to always try to put greens in smoothies. Why? Because if you’re a beginner smoothie-drinker, adding spinach not only gives you an amazing dose of vitamins, minerals and other plant chemicals called phytonutrients, but also…

YOU CAN’T TASTE IT AT ALL!!!

What!?!?!? I promise you! Spinach in smoothies is the best thing since…um Popeye. I promise, just give it a shot and you won’t be able to taste a thing. It’s a great method to get on your way towards more dark green leafies in your diet every day. And you KNOW we should all be having those!!!

And for those of us who are more adept at using greens in our diets, we can transition to ones that have a bit higher nutrient profile, but that also come with a bit more of a flavor “kick” if you will… :)

Personally, since I don’t eat spinach to avoid getting more kidney stones, I have graduated to greens such as romaine, kale, bok choy and collard greens. These types of greens are the absolute best to use (though spinach has some wonderful anti-cancer properties as well), so if you can get yourself to that real brave point…make sure to try to vary your greens each time. :D

I’ve made a quickie little video to show how to make this Tropical Green Smoothie, and make sure to not miss it, because it’s only 1 minute long and it has the best joke you’ve ever heard in the very beginning…

Don’t believe me? Well, you’ll just have to check it out for yourself. :P
